MAYFIELD - An Oneida County motorcyclist was badly injured in an accident investigated by Fulton County sheriff's deputies Saturday on Route 30A, south of Riceville Road.

Deputies said Eric M. Ross. 37, of 500 Floyd Ave., Rome, suffered leg injuries and was unconscious after the 9:25 p.m. crash.

He was flown by medical flight to Albany Medical Center Hospital.

A passenger on his bike - Carley J. Hunter, 39 - also complained of a leg injury and was taken to St. Mary's Hospital.

Deputies said Ross was heading south on Route 30A when he drove to the left of his designated lane to pass a vehicle.

Deputies said the motorcycle sideswiped a BTA truck driven by Dennis A. Lyman, 67, of 73 Fort Johnson Ave., Fort Johnson, which was northbound on Route 30A.

Ross was ticketed on an overtaking violation.
