July 27, 2013
The Leader Herald

CANAJOHARIE?- Montgomery County Historian Kelly Yacobucci Farquhar will lead a walking tour in the village at 11 a.m. Aug. 10.

The tour will highlight various sites associated with the African-Americans who lived in Canajoharie during the 19th century as well as possible abolitionist activity.

Brochures will identify the sites on a map of Canajoharie, and the walking tour will include some of the sites.

The group will meet at the NBT Bank parking lot on the corner of Route 10 and Mohawk Street at 11 a.m.

There will be some hills involved in the walking tour, and it is expected to last approximately one hour.

This tour is made possible with funds from the Montgomery County Occupancy Tax administered by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors.

For more information, call the Montgomery County Department of History & Archives at 853-8186.
