Tobacco advertising harmful to children

Project Action Tobacco-Free Coalition in Hamilton, Fulton and Montgomery counties educates community leaders and the community about store tobacco product displays, tobacco marketing in stores, pharmacies and grocery stores about ending tobacco marketing in stores.

In 2003, the passage of the Clean Indoor Air Act was a major victory in the effort to protect workers and the public from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke. Today, our kids deserve similar protection from tobacco-industry marketing in retail stores that entices them to start smoking.

According to a 2012 Report of the Surgeon General titled "Preventing Tobacco Use Among Youth and Young Adults," tobacco use is a pediatric epidemic in the United States, with 3.6 million youth currently smoking cigarettes.
