Mrs. Nancy Putman Sammons, age 69, of Sammonsville, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, following a brief illness.
She was born November 28, 1943, in Gloversville, the daughter of Ethel Schoolcraft Putman and the late Wesley M. Putman. She was Valedictorian of the 1961 Class of Broadalbin High School. Nancy never knew how smart or beautiful she really was. She was married to Richard Sammons on July 1, 1961, and became a partner in the operation of the Sammons Farm in Sammonsville.
Nancy was a member of the Otsego Herkimer Montgomery Holstein Club. She enjoyed gardening, crafting and ceramics. Most importantly, Nancy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by: her husband of 52 years, Richard Sammons; three children and five grandchildren: Garritt R. Sammons and his wife, Ann and their children, Rachel and Clyde Sammons, Kelly S. Knowlton and her husband, William and their children, Cody and Cassey Knowlton, Tracy S. Watterson and her husband, Brent and their daughter, Taylre Watterson, all of Sammonsville. Nancy's mother, Ethel Putman of Johnstown survives, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her brother, Wesley D. Putman.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will take place 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
