JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton County Center for Regional Growth has begun a new photo contest for young people serving dual purposes, according to center President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Reese.
Reese said the contest, now underway, will not only acquaint participants with the important business sites in the region, but help to market the CRG website as well.
"What we're trying to do is to get high school kids interested," Reese said Thursday. "A lot of people say there's nothing in Fulton County as far as jobs."
Reese said the contest will also help promote the CRG website with great photos. He said the CRG will be accepting photos until Oct. 15 and winners will be notified by email by Oct. 30. A top winner will be announced in November.
According to a CRG news release issued this week, the contest is for people ages 12 to 25 who have attended or are currently attending a school in Fulton County. Amateur photographers are eligible to win the one overall prize - a Canon EOS Rebel T3 digital camera with kit lens.
"The goal of this contest is to celebrate Fulton County through images that showcase the good hearts of our people and the seeds of economic vitality that will ultimately enable us to restore our downtowns and grow our economy," Reese stated in the release.
Interested participants can view the contest rules and submit multiple color digital photographs to the organization's website -fccrg.org/photo-contest.
Winners will be selected based on both the content and the quality of the photography.
Categories for photos will be industry, downtowns, agriculture, people and community events, natural resources, and power.
One winner will receive the high definition digital camera, presented at the CRG's annual "networking" dinner in November. Twenty-five runners up will receive smaller prizes. Their photographs, along with the winning photograph, will displayed at the event and at www.fccrg.org and facebook.com/fultoncountycrg
