GLOVERSVILLE - Four players competed in a chess tournament put on by the Gloversville Recreation Commission last Saturday at the city senior center.

Lance Gunderson, Steven Brower, Herb Dye and Brother John McManus competed for prizes donated by Plaza Pizza, Big Mike's and the Palace Diner.

Each player played all of the others. There was a three-way tie between McManus, Dye and Brower.

McManus is a senior tournament director for the United States Chess Federation and runs free tournaments for youths in the Capital District.

He left three sets and boards at the senior center for public use.

A list of upcoming tournaments can be found at www.chesstrm.org.
