Pauline V. Buyce

July 9, 2013
The Leader Herald

Pauline V. Buyce, a resident of Northville, N.Y., met her Jesus face to face on Monday, July 8, 2013.

She was born on August 17, 1918, in Johnstown, New York to Anthony Valovic Sr. and Pauline Balas Valovic.

She was wed to Gerald R. Buyce in Northville at the Raymond H. Buyce home on March 20, 1948, by the Rev. Byrd Springer. As a couple, they felt it was important for Paula to be a stay-at-home mom and homemaker to her five children, so she waited until her youngest was "old enough" before starting out in the work force. She loved being with family, especially on birthdays, holidays, and picnics. She was remembered by family, friends and neighbors for her delicious homemade doughnuts, chocolate jumbles and apple pie. She enjoyed gardening and garage sales. Since she never had a driver's license, Paula was often seen bicycling around the village. She was very athletic her entire life and was amazing at snow skiing, water skiing, golf, tennis, ice skating, softball, and swimming, which she continued well into her 80s. She belonged to a Harley-Davidson family and in the 1940s rode along with them. Paula was a member of the Baptist Church of Northville and attended the Berean Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Sunshine Committee within the Bereans, and as a member of this group, brought cheer and smiles to local shut-ins, widows/widowers and the ill with fresh flower bouquets which she made from donated flower arrangements. She was a loving and caring person who was loved by all who met her. Our loss is heaven's gain. As a child of God, it is a comfort to know we will see her again and will spend eternity with her in heaven.
