Eleanor M. St. John, 81, of Vandenburgh Point Road, Mayfield, died Wednesday July 3, 2013 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, with family at her side.
She was born in Gloversville on November 28, 1931 a daughter of Arthur and Clara LaMont Ketchum and was a 1950 graduate of Mayfield High School. Eleanor was a lifelong area resident and enjoyed spending winters in Seminole, Florida.
She was employed at Coleco Industries for twenty-eight years where she was head of the shipping department. She later worked for Adirondack Leather in Johnstown.

Mrs. St. John was a notary public for several years and also worked as an election inspector in Fulton County.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Eleanor enjoyed traveling and was an avid New York Yankee fan. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends and enjoying time with her grandchildren.
She was married to Francis R. St. John, Sr. on June 24, 1951. He died February 5, 2005. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Francis R. St. John, Jr. who died February 19, 2008, and a sister, Doris Holmes.
Survivors include her daughter, Gloria (John) Aesch of Gloversville; daughter-in-law, Sandra St. John of Gloversville; a brother, Bobby Ketchum of Northville; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown with Rev. Matthew Wetsel officiating. Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
