Amsterdam players claim Big 10 honors

AMSTERDAM - Several Amsterdam players were among those selected for the recently announced Big 10 baseball and softball all-star teams.

Amsterdam's Zach Dufel, Julian Gallup and Andrew Rouse were named first-team all-stars.

Dylan Angelo, Ayden Healy and Jonardy Anil Jr. were named to the second team for the Rams.

Bayley Archinal was the lone first-team selection for the Amsterdam softball team, while Tessa Filaberto and Ashley Przbylowicz were named to the second team.

Troy's Christian Maldonado and LaSalle's Dom Razzano shared Big 10 Player of the Year honors.

Dufel, a senior pitcher, hit .444 this season for Amsterdam and went 4-3 on the mound with a 2.64 ERA.

Julian Gallup, a junior outfielder, hit .429 for the Rams finishing with 12 RBIs, while Rouse, a junior utility player, hit .436 with 15 RBIs. Angelo, a senior pitcher, was 4-3 with a 3.39 ERA for Amsterdam, while Healy, a senior outfielder, hit .317 with 22 RBIs, three home runs, three triples and two doubles.

Anil, a junior utility player, hit .396 this season for the Rams with 11 RBIs, four doubles and two triples.

Amsterdam finished the season with an 11-9 overall record.

In addition to Dufel, LaSalle's Chris Carmel, Albany's Justin Holmberg, Schenectady's Kyle Mohr, Christian Brothers Academy's Ned Montine and Troy's Bryan Seabury were named first-team pitchers

Also named first-team all-stars were Christian Brother Academy's Zach DeThomasis, Troy's Michael Mannix, Troy's James Waters, Catholic Central's Liam Kelly, CBA's Chase Crawford, Schenectady's Cody Shafer, LaSalle's Justin Sportman, CBA's Matt Hamel, Troy's Anthony Judge, Schenectady's Nick Patierne, LaSalle's Jake Walter and LaSalle's Jake Bernardo.

Troy's Hunter Levesque was selected as the Big 10 softball Most Valuable Player.

In addition to Archinal, Joelle Salisbury (Bishop Gibbons), Alyssa Salisbury (Bishop Gibbons), Alina Germinerio (Troy), Kaileigh Serafini (Schenectady), Joelle Gicobbi (Catholic Central), Lilly Maggs (Bishop Gibbons), Ally Luscier (Troy), Destiny Wierzbicki (Troy) and Angelica Olivera (Catholic Central) were named first-team all-stars.

Joining Filaberto and Przbylowicz on the second team were Anna Cochis (Catholic Central), Kaitlin Delsignore (Troy), Jessica Marsh (Troy), Faith Welch (Catholic Central), Courtney Lane (Bishop Maginn), Lexi Lewis (Troy), Aiyan McIntyre (Bishop Gibbons) and Sara Defruscio (Schenectady).

Amsterdam finished the season with a 9-10 overall record.
