Keep watch for new Medicare notice

June 22, 2013
The Leader Herald

In mailboxes across the country, people with Medicare will soon see a redesigned statement of their claims for services and benefits that will help them better spot potential fraud, waste and abuse.

The new, redesigned Medicare Beneficiary Notice will make it easier for people with Medicare to understand their benefits, file an appeal if a claim is denied and spot claims for services they never received. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will send the notices to Medicare beneficiaries on a quarterly basis.

Over the last year, the Fulton County Office for Aging has supplied senior clubs across the county with information about Senior Medicare Patrol and the benefits of seniors and caregivers becoming knowledgeable about any and all health insurance forms and bills, and knowing how to report potential fraud.

For more information, please call the Fulton County Office for Aging at 736-5650.
