JOHNSTOWN - A Gloversville man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Fulton County Court to a stolen property count and is slated to receive jail time.

Derek Hayes, 31, pleaded guilty before Judge Polly A. Hoye to one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Sentencing was adjourned until a later date, but he is expected to receive six months in the county jail and five years probation as part of a plea arrangement.

Hayes was arrested April 17 by state police, along with a co-defendant, the status of whose case was unavailable this week.

Troopers said the arrests were made after a theft at the Walmart Supercenter on Route 30 in Amsterdam. Charged were Hayes and Emily Rodriguez, 18, of Gloversville. A store employee pointed them out to troopers while the pair were leaving the store in their vehicle after stealing various items, troopers said.
