The Leader Herald

Lylian K. Rogers, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon at the Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center with her family at her side.

Born in Utica, N.Y., on Nov. 10, 1931, the only child of the late Charles and Nina Elizabeth Mead Bowers, she was raised and educated in Gloversville, moving to the Amsterdam area in 1948 upon her marriage. Lylian was employed for a time as a housekeeper for a private residence and later worked in the same capacity for Mount Loretto Nursing Home and the Holiday Inn. She loved being with her family, camping at the Griffin Gorge in Wells where she fished and enjoyed the outdoors. She played cards especially the game Kings Corners even to her days at Baptist Home where she considered staff and residents her extended family. Lylian had a strong faith which sustained her all through her life, especially her rosary which gave her great comfort. Her family will always remember her wonderful chocolate cake and Lylian being the life of the party.

On August 15, 1948, she was married to Francis A. Rogers Sr.; he predeceased her on Feb. 6, 1984. Sadly she also lost a son, Joseph Charles Rogers.
