Philip R. Frye, 58, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 17, 2013 at his home in Mayfield.
Born on December 10, 1954, in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Richard Frye and the late Grace Smith.
Following the passing of his father at an early age, Philip was raised by his grandparents, William and Nina Frye. He lived with them first in Gloversville during his early years, and then on Beech Street, near Jackson Summit, in Mayfield from his early teenage years until his passing.
Philip was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses and also a participant in the activities at Lexington Center for many years.
He cherished driving his car around the area. Philip enjoyed dining out and enjoying a good meal at one of the local restaurants. He enjoyed camping, fishing and the outdoors with his grandfather, William.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his grandfather, William; and a sister, Susan Frye, with whom he was very close.
Philip is survived by his grandmother, Nina Frye; aunts, Delores Frye, Muriel Turner, Audrey Jones and Betty Jacobs; two uncles, David Jones and John Jacobs; and many cousins, among whom he was particularly close to Laura Kravis and Lizzie Jacobs and their families.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 126 South Kingsboro Ave., Gloversville. Burial will take place at a later date at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
