Wells’ Page earns MVAC all-star honors

WELLS - Bobbi-Jo Page was the lone Wells selection on the recently announced Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference Division II softball all-star team.

Page, a senior, batted .482 this season with 26 runs scored, 21 stolen bases, six doubles and three home runs. Page, who moved from shortstop to catcher this season, also threw out 23 runners trying to steal.

"Bobbi-Jo [Page] is a natural athlete and a total team player who is respected by her teammates, opponents, opposing coaches and myself," Wells coach Dayna Fisher said. "She's just a wonderful young lady. I'm glad I had the opportunity to coach her."

Page was a three-year starter at Wells, which finished 0-14 overall this season.

Minerva-Newcomb's Shelby Hogan was named the MVAC Division II Most Valuable Player.

Hogan went 9-1 in the circle for the Mountaineers this season, posting a 1.92 ERA.

Minerva-Newcomb also had Dakota Bennett, Gabriella McNally, Mary Labar and Cheyenne Williams named to the all-star team.

Bennett hit .351 for the Mountaineers this season, posting a .679 on-base percentage and stole 45 bases. McNally hit .440 for Minerva-Newcomb with a .603 on-base percentage, while Williams was 6-0 in the circle for the Mountaineers with a 0.98 ERA. Labar hit .440 for Minerva-Newcomb and had 12 stolen bases.

Keene had Tucker Geiger and Taylor Geiger named all-stars. Tucker Geiger had a .536 batting average, nine doubles, three triples, two home runs and 28 RBIs, while Taylor Geiger had a .479 batting average, seven doubles, two triples, two home runs and 27 RBIs.

Johnsburg's Valeri Gereau and Astasia Myler were named all-stars. Gereau had 29 hits, five doubles, two triples and eight home runs, while Myler had 31 hits, seven doubles and eight home runs.

Indian Lake-Long Lake's Emma Gray also was named an all-star after recording 111 strikeouts in the circle and a .388 batting average at the plate.

Maddie Miller also was named an all-star for the Orange after recording a .486 batting average, 10 doubles and three triples.

Keene won the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference Division II Sportsmanship Award.
