Ida A. DiGiacomo, 96, formerly of Gloversville, died June 11, 2013, in Lakeland Florida. Born in Astoria, N.Y., on September 25, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Russo Landrio. On June 23, 1946, she married the late Pasquale DiGiacomo. They shared 34 years together until his passing in 1980. Ida worked at Grandoe Co., retiring in 1981. She was a communicant of Church of the Holy Spirit. Ida was a member of Church of the Holy Spirit Women's Society, 55 Plus Senior Citizens where she was Citizen of the Year in 1987, Shirley Luck Senior Citizens, and the Catholic War Veterans Women's Auxiliary.
Ida will be remembered for being the life of the party, dancing, always having a smile, and playing bingo. Ida moved to Lakeland, Florida to be with her daughter.
Surviviors include her son, Daniel (Robin) DiGiacomo of Cohoes, N.Y.; daughter, Jeanne (Stuart) Sutherland of Lakeland, Florida; grandchildren, Jeffery (April) Pannone, Taryn (Victor) Dadario, and Dayna DiGiacomo; also four great-grandchildren; her siblings, Mildred DaNato of Meco, and Johnny Landrio of New York City; also several nieces and nephews. Ida was predeceased by her siblings, Salvatore Landrio, Eugene Landrio, Ignatious Landrio and Elvira DeFlorio; also her stepsister; and four stepbrothers.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main St., Gloversville. A prayer service will be held Tuesday, June 18, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at Church of the Holy Spirit. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
