Reality Check and Project Action Tobacco Free Coalition of Hamilton, Fulton and Montgomery Counties participated with local teens from Canajoharie High School as part of the World No Tobacco Day on May 31.
World No Tobacco Day is an international day of advocacy sponsored by the World Health Organization. This year's theme was to ban tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship.
According to the Campaign for Tobacco Free kids, each year, 22,500 kids younger than 18 become new daily smokers in New York. On May 31, No Attraction to Drugs and Alcohol students from Canajoharie High School signed a banner to support ending tobacco marketing in stores and had the opportunity to tell the tobacco industry that "we've seen enough" tobacco marketing.
It was a great event and a great collaboration among the Canajoharie High School No Attraction to Drug and Alcohol students, Reality Check and Project Action. For more information, please visit seenenoughtobacco.org.
