JOHNSTOWN - More than 80 parcels will be up for sale when Fulton County government conducts a real estate auctions of properties acquired through tax foreclosure at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn.
Bidders are asked to register starting at 9 a.m., according to Haroff Auction & Realty Inc. of Schroon Lake, Essex County. The firm is managing the auction with the County Treasurer's Office.
"As far as auctions, this is probably an average year," county Administrative Officer Jon Stead said Thursday.
The Fulton County Board of Supervisors at a later date after the auction will consider approving sales for properties not meeting the minimum price set by the county.
The public will bid on properties the county government acquired through tax delinquencies.
Haroff Auction & Realty had previously advertised more than 100 properties were for sale, but that number was down this week to about 84.
The Fulton County Tax Foreclosure Real Estate Auction will take place Wednesday at the Johnstown Holiday Inn. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., with the auction starting at 11 a.m.
"Some of the folks have redeemed their [delinquent] taxes," Stead said.
Haroff this week had 32 city of Gloversville properties ready for auction, which Stead said is "down a little" from previous years.
Up for sale will be various listings in the county that include lots, acreage, camps, homes and commercial properties.
Properties range from a one-family, 1.5-story Cape Cod-style home on County Highway 107 in the town of Perth valued at $131,200 to a $25,400 mobile home on County Highway 112 in the town of Bleecker.
The public will have a chance to review some of the properties with showings Tuesday. A showings schedule will be posted on the auctioneer's website - www.haroff.com. The public also can register online for live webcast bidding.
According to Haroff, $1,000 or 20 percent of the total contract price - whichever is higher - must be paid as a down payment on the day of the auction upon execution of a contract of sale.
All required deposits must be paid in full for all successful bids by the end of the auction.
Hamilton County also will be listing four properties for sale at the same auction in the towns of Indian Lake, Lake Pleasant and Morehouse.
