JOHNSTOWN - A Mayfield man who authorities said pointed a shotgun at a woman earlier this spring in Mayfield pleaded guilty Thursday in Fulton County Court.

Douglas R. Julian, 33, of County Highway 123, pleaded guilty before Judge Richard C. Giardino to one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon as part of a plea arrangement. Sentencing was adjourned until a later date, but he is expected to receive a year in the county jail.

Julian was charged April 3 by state police for pointing a shotgun at a woman. He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and second-degree menacing. State police said troopers responded to a report of a domestic incident on County Highway 123 in the town after a woman said Julian pointed a shotgun at her.

Troopers said a check of Julian's criminal history revealed a past conviction for felony driving while intoxicated. Due to the felony conviction, state police said the criminal possession of a weapon charge went from fourth degree to third degree.
