William Crankshaw is seen in a photo from 2007, when he was principal at Glebe Street Elementary in Johnstown. Crankshaw will leave his current post at Northville Elementary to become superintendent of the Remsen district, near Utica.

Principal William T. Crankshaw will start in the fall as the superintendent of the Remsen Central School.

Crankshaw said he was excited to head to a new district.

"Obviously I'm excited for the challenge," Crankshaw said.

Crankshaw said he will serve as the superintendent and elementary school principal for that district.

Crankshaw said there are some programs and plans that need to be settled in Northville before he heads to Remsen, but he noted plans are already being made to find his replacement at the elementary school.

"[The Northville Board of Education] is very responsible," Crankshaw said.

Wally Hart, Crankshaw's partner, said he was very proud of him.

"He has been committed and focused, giving and inspiring. Now he will share his talents as the new superintendent of schools of Remsen, N.Y.," Hart said on Facebook.

Hart said Crankshaw may buy a place in Remsen and split his time between Gloversville - where he currently lives - and Remsen.

"I feel it is important to live in the district you work in," Crankshaw said.
