Police: Man struck, choked victim

GLOVERSVILLE - A man was arrested Tuesday after he choked and hit a victim several times and wouldn't allow her to leave the residence, police said.

Bruce L. Standler, 36, of 88 Kingsboro Ave., was charged with third-degree attempted assault, petit larceny, criminal obstruction of an airway and unlawful imprisonment, all misdemeanors.

Police said Standler was arrested following a domestic violence incident that occurred at his residence.

According to the victim, police said, Standler struck her several times, choked her, kept her from leaving the residence and took her cell phone to keep her from calling for help.

Standler was held for arraignment.
