COOPERSTOWN - The Amsterdam Mohawks committed five errors and stranded eight runners on base as they fell to Cooperstown 9-3 in Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League action Sunday at Doubleday Field.
Second baseman Josh Gardiner led the Mohawks (1-1) at the plate with two singles and a run scored, while Catcher Keith Skinner doubled for Amsterdam. Brian Ruby, Colin Gay and Devin Wenzel all singled to round out Amsterdam's seven-hit attack.
Brendan O'Reilly went 4-for-5 for the Hawkeyes (2-0) with an RBI and two runs scored, while Ryan Hanahan had a double and a single, Matt Feldt, Cameron Day and Nate Lotze all had two hits apiece.
The Mohawks return to the diamond tonight at Newark before returning home to Shuttleworth Park to host the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
