Mohawks opener halted by outage

ALBANY - Due to a localized power outage, the season opener of the 2013 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League season between the Albany Dutchmen and Amsterdam Mohawks was suspended in the bottom of the 8th inning, with the score tied at 5-5.

The Mohawks scored once in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead before Albany scored its first run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Brad Noland.

Amsterdam pushed its lead to 4-1 with two runs in the top of the sixth, only to have Albany answer with three runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 4-4. Both teams scored once in the seventh before the power outage halted the game in the top of the eighth.

Fonda-Fultonville graduate Luke Nethaway is a member of the Dutchmen.?

The game is scheduled to resume the next time Amsterdam visits Albany on June 20.?

Amsterdam is scheduled to host Utica in its home opener today at 7 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park.
