KANE MOUNTAIN - HealthLink Littauer, the community health and wellness service of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, recently announced its monthly "Hiking For The Health Of It!" outing is scheduled for Saturday.
The hike is rated moderate with a 600 foot ascent and is about 2 miles round trip.
"Join us on a family hike to experience the physical and mental benefits of the great outdoors," Steve McGrattan, state certified Wildland Search and Rescue Volunteer, said in a news release. "We'll hike along an old Jeep road to the fire observer's cabin and climb the restored fire tower on the summit for panoramic views of the surrounding lakes and beyond."
The hike will be open to those ages 6 and older with outdoor walking and climbing experience and the physical ability to go the distance. The group will meet in Caroga Lake at 10 a.m. and then drive or car pool to the trailhead located north on Route 10.
There will be a $6 guide fee per person payable in advance at HealthLink to reserve a space.
