I am writing in response to the letter to the editor by Larry Washburn. I am not sure if you realize this, Mr. Washburn, but the Prospect Hill Cemetery is 64 acres. Also, I am sure you are not aware that there are only four people to cover that 64 acres. We have to keep the grass mowed, everything weed whacked, bushes trimmed, roads leveled, water turned on in the spring and off in the fall, garbage cans dumped, burials - must I go on? All of those services for four people to manage.
I am sure you also didn't see all four people working in the rain for the whole week before Memorial Day.
Speaking of the rain, don't you think that was working against us? We apologize that we cannot control the weather. If you ask me, everyone was doing their part to make the cemetery look as good as it possibly could for Memorial Day and every other day of the year.
As far as your comment about "patch mowing" how is it possible to keep 64 acres of grass all the same height?
Furthermore, please give us the courtesy of waiting until Memorial Day before you say we don't do our job. We do what we can with the staff we have, and as far as I am concerned we do our best and always will. If that does not meet your standards, we are sorry.
