Mark L. Richards, 51, passed away with his son, Brent, following a fishing accident on the Great Sacandaga Lake.
He was born in Mount Kisco, N.Y., on August 23, 1961, the son of the late Frederick L. and Joan A. (Loucks) Richards.
Mark was employed as a supervisor and technician performing asbestos abatement, working for Sullivan Contracting and most recently with Martin Environmental Services Inc.

Mr. Richards proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
Mark enjoyed building and crafting with stone. He had created several landscaping and stone works over the years. He had a love for the outdoors; he liked camping, but Mark had a passion for fishing that was passed on from his father, and he handed it down to his son.
He is survived by his wife, Darla J. Wadsworth Richards of Broadalbin; a daughter, Brie Richards of Broadalbin; stepson Jessi Carter of Alabama; granddaughter Livia Richards; sister Trudy A. (Thomas) Gunderson of Jacksonville, Fla.; a cousin, Theodore (Robin) Loucks of Broadalbin; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main Street, Broadalbin, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 or made to Mark's family to assist them with further expenses.
