Former city resident arrested in NYC

May 30, 2013
The Leader Herald

GLOVERSVILLE - City police said a former city resident, and level 2 convicted sex offender, was arrested Tuesday in New York City for failing to report his change of address.

Tywann Johnson, 26, formerly of 11 Carpenter St., was arrested in New York City on a City Court arrest warrant, police said.

Johnson was charged with failure to register or verify address.

Police said the law requires registered sex offenders to report their change of address immediately to the local police department. Johnson had failed to do so when he fled the area to an unknown location in NYC, police said.

Johnson has two previous convictions of failure to register or verify, police said, which elevated this occurrence to a class D felony.

He was sent to the Fulton County Correctional Facility by City Court Judge Traci DiMezza, where he is currently being held on other charges.
