AMSTERDAM - The Montgomery County SPCA will hold its 11th anniversary Dog Walk-A-Thon on Saturday at Shuttleworth Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Proceeds from this major fundraiser will benefit the MCSPCA's new animal shelter building fund.
There is a general admission fee of $5 per person, but children younger than age 15 will enter for free.
All participants in the Walk-A-thon are reminded to pick up their donation forms at the MCSPCA Animal Shelter. Actual walkers as well as virtual walkers also may register to collect donations at www.mc-spca.org.
Prizes will be awarded to walkers collecting $100, $300 and $500 in donations. The walker who collects the most in donations will receive a Nook, a news release said.
All donations must be paid at the time of check-in for the Walk-A-Thon, which is 11 a.m. to noon on the day of the event.
The event also will include information about adopting animals, a police K-9 demonstration and vendors selling a wide variety of products.
State Sen. Cecelia Tkaczyk also will be at the event to talk about adopting her dog Bayou, a former resident of the Montgomery County SPCA.
More information about the fundraiser can be found at www.mc-spca.org or at its page on Facebook.
