Jeffers launches campaign for mayor

May 26, 2013
The Leader Herald
Scott Jeffers gestures as he speaks Saturday on the steps of the Fulton County Courthouse in Johnstown, where he formally announced he is running for mayor of the city. Addressing a crowd of about 25 people who gathered in the rain to hear him speak, Jeffers said if elected he would support small local businesses, help promote the community’s history, and take a cautious approach to consolidation of government services. Jeffers, a Republican, is the second candidate to announce a bid for mayor. Michael Julius, a Democrat, also has said he plans to run for the office now held by Sarah Slingerland, who will not seek a third term. (The Leader-Herald/Bill Ackerbauer)
