BROADALBIN - Authorities are conducting an underwater search of the Great Sacandaga Lake for two men after items that would have been in their boat were found floating near the shore, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Mark Richards, 51, and Brent Richards, 24, both of Broadalbin, went fishing Saturday and never came home, officials said.

The pair parked their vehicle on Macvean Road on Saturday morning and launched their small boat, the release said. They never came home and were reported missing Sunday night.

Their vehicle was located on Macvean Road, and items that would have been in their boat were found floating near shore, the release said. A search of the shoreline did not reveal anything.

Boats are searching the area near the Broadalbin boat launch on Lakeview Road in town.

More on this story will appear in Tuesday's print and online editions.
