BROADALBIN - Three people were injured in a head-on collision involving an alleged drunken driver Saturday night on Route 29 at County Highway 138, Fulton County sheriff's deputies reported.
Deputies said driver Kenneth D. Sweetman, 39, of Box 1072, Broadalbin, suffered an internal chest injury in the 8:10 p.m. accident and was transported to the Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Sweetman was ticketed on charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, failure to yield the right of way, and improper right turn at an intersection, deputies said.
Deputies said another driver - Todd M. Ash, 45, of 20 Smith St., Glens Falls - complained of a shoulder injury. His passenger - Todd C. Ash, 18 - suffered an arm injury. Both were taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Deputies said Ash was heading east on Route 29. Deputies said Sweetman was was heading south on Route 29 and onto Bogden Road, but instead turned right into the eastbound lane of traffic on Route 29 and his car struck Ash's car head-on.
Deputies said Ash tried to move over to the westbound lane in a attempt to avoid Sweetman's vehicle.
