GLOVERSVILLE - The Women's Republican Club of Fulton County has named Karen S. Smith of Gloversville as its GOP Woman of the Year.
Smith is chairwoman of Gloversville Republican Committee; secretary of the Fulton County Republican Committee; secretary of the Fulton County Republican Club; secretary of the Women's Republican Club of Fulton County; and recording secretary of the New York State Federation of Republican Women.
She is a trustee of the Gloversville Public Library and a member of the Library Foundation and Friends of the Gloversville Public Library. Smith is also chairwoman of the Gloversville Zoning Board of Appeals, a member of the Fulton County Planning Board, and president of the Gloversville Business Improvement District, a news release said.

She is an investor and manager for the Shine Memorial Hall.
Smith retired as a reading specialist from the Greater Amsterdam School District and is a member of the Amsterdam Retired Teachers Association and New York State United Teachers.
Smith is a graduate of Gloversville High School, Fulton-Montgomery Community College, SUNY Brockport and Russell Sage College.
