Mrs. Joyce A. Lewis Goodbread, age 83, of Gloversville, died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.
She was born May 25, 1929, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Place Lewis. She was active in Girl Scouting many years ago and was an avid reader. She and her late husband, Arnold, spent many winters in Venice, Florida and enjoyed vacationing at Seventh Lake in the Adirondack Mountains. In June of every year she looked forward to enjoying her beautiful poppies that bloomed in the front yard of her home.
Joyce was married on June 9, 1951, to Arnold A. Goodbread, who died December 31, 2012.
She is survived by: her daughter, Gayle Goodbread of Santa Rosa, Calif.; four siblings, her twin sister, Joan Giberson (Tom) of New Jersey, Norma String (Robert) of Utica, Richard Lewis Jr. (Linda) of Scotia and Paul Lewis (Sally) of Endicott; one aunt, Shirley Lopuch of Scotia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
