JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton County Center for Regional Growth has made a $400,000 loan to the new Spanish sausage plant at the Glove Cities Industrial Park.
CRG President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Reese related news of the loan to his board of directors Thursday at the Johnstown Professional Office Complex.
The CRG announced in March that Pata Negra LLC will operate the 23,000-square-foot plant at 20 Industrial Parkway, the former home of Perrone Leather. The plant is expected to employ up to a dozen people to start. The company is involved in all aspects of the gourmet food industry in Spain and Europe, as well as the real estate, robotics and financial industries.
Reese said the Pata Negra owner recently met with Gloversville Mayor Dayton King and Gloversville Finance Commissioner Bruce Van Genderen at Gloversville City Hall to go over his plans. He said the company, which is looking to start up operation soon, is working with the CRG and city and seeks a local line of credit.
Moving into space
In another project, Reese reported to his board that worldwide trucking-warehousing company Yusen Logistics (America) Inc., based in California, signed a lease to move into 75,000 square feet of the 113,400-square-foot former Finkle Distributors building at the Johnstown Industrial Park. He said the company has already moved.
The CRG had negotiated with Yusen Logistics for several months, and Reese worked with an Albany real-estate agent on the lease. The company previously purchased NYK Logistics in the Johnstown Industrial Park at 123 Union Ave. Ext. Reese has said the plan is for Yusen Logistics to vacate that smaller facility and move into the former Finkle building.
