John Collins, 68, of Gloversville, formerly of North Franklin, Conn., passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at his home following a long illness.
Born on August 18, 1944, in Lewiston, Maine, he was the son of Lucia and Rita Bussiere.
John had worked for Kof-Koft poultry and egg farm in North Franklin, Conn.; he was a dedicated employee living on site and assisted with all the day to day operations of the farm until illness forced him to retire. He was also a jack of all trades, helping any who needed him, working at the local churches performing janitorial work and odd jobs.
He enjoyed trips to the casino to play the "slots." John also like watching professional wrestling and he also enjoyed cooking.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Collins in 2001.
John is survived by his children, John Collins of Fort Plain, Tina Puleo of Gloversville, Kimberly Collins of Gloversville, Laurie Collins of Fort Plain and Tammy (Matt) Preston of Vermont; stepchildren, Kenneth Spencer and Laurie Waldron, both of Conn.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Friends are invited to call on the family from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 30, at 11:30 a.m. at Pachaug Cemetery, Griswold, Conn.
