Drop-off, cleanup set in Bleecker

BLEECKER - The town and the Fulton County Department of Solid Waste will co-sponsor a municipal drop-off/ cleanup program May 3, 4 and 5 behind the town barn, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Town residents only will be allowed to dispose of old furniture, appliances, garage and attic cleanup projects, and do-it-yourself home-improvement project materials such as siding, shingles and lumber. A maximum of four tires per person per day will be accepted, and they must be off the rim.

The program is not open to commercial haulers, businesses or institutions. Old appliances will be separated from garbage for recycling.

The following items are not acceptable for this program: Vehicle batteries, paint, motor oil, curbside recyclables or regular weekly trash.

Electronics will be accepted for recycling. Residents are reminded that electronics are accepted yearround at all transfer stations and at the Department of Solid Waste, according to a news release.
