GLOVERSVILLE-The city prohibit parking on the west side of Nelson Street.
The Common Council conducted a public hearing Tuesday at City Hall, where one person spoke in favor of the plan and another asked the council to make it affect the east side of the street.
Council decided to prohibit parking on the west side of the street at all times.
Parking was previously prohibited only during the winter on the west side of the narrow, one-way street.
Sixth Ward Councilman Wrandy Siarkowski suggested parking be eliminated on the west side of the street year-round because the street is narrow.
Siarkowski said a resident of the street called him complaining that when cars park in the street, other cars can't get through. The resident said if vehicles are parked on both sides of the road, emergency vehicles wouldn't have enough room, according to Siarkowski.
Parking still will be permitted on the east side of the street.
