H.S. Baseball Roundup: Saints cruise to win over Panthers, 21-1

MAYFIELD - Saratoga Catholic piled up 19 hits on its way to a 21-1 win over Mayfield in a Western Athletic Conference baseball game Monday.

Mike Naughton and Ryan Czarnecki each had four hits for the Saints (4-0 WAC), while Cam Coons, Jesse Winters, Chris Larson, Liam Gibney and Jake Moline all had a single and a double. John Natale added a double for Saratoga Catholic, while Sean Hart added a single.

Jake Moline earned the win on the mound for the Saints, allowing two hits and striking out nine in six innings of work.

Ryan Hennessy had two singles for Mayfield (2-6 overall, 2-5 WAC), while Matt Messina added a single.

The Panthers travel to Sharon Springs today.

SCHOHARIE - Chris Hanifin pitched a one-hitter to lead Fort Plain to a shutout win over Schoharie.

Hanifin struck out 10 and walked three on his way to the complete-game victory.

Marcus Failing had a single, double, two runs scored and an RBI for Fort Plain (6-0 overall, 6-0 WAC), while Hanifin added an RBI single.

Dakota Nemecek and Trent Douglas each added a single and an RBI for the Hilltoppers, while Drew Fureno had a single and a run scored.

Tanner Stone had the lone hit for Schoharie (2-3 overall, 2-1 WAC).

Jace Fox and Kyle McLaughlin each had doubles for Canajoharie (4-2 overall, 4-2 WAC).

Dustin Tripp was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Sharon Springs.

Duanesburg slipped to 4-4 overall and 4-2 in WAC play with the loss.

BROADALBIN - Anthony Visco pitched a two-hitter to lead Broadalbin-Perth to a shutout win over South Glens Falls.

Mike Visco was 2-for-3 with a run score and an RBI for B-P (4-3 overall, 3-2 Foothills), while Luigi Magliocca and Anthony Visco each had a single and an RBI.

QUEENSBURY - Eric Wettersten scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Queensbury to a win over Scotia-Glenville.

Phil Wettersten added an RBI single for Queensbury (5-2 overall, 4-1 Foothills).

Charlie Peltz earned the complete-game win for the Spartans, striking out 14 and allowing three hits.

Mitch Forshey had two hits and RBI for Scotia-Glenville (5-1 overall, 4-1 Foothills).

Andrew Rouse had four singles for Amsterdam (5-4 overall, 4-3 Big 10), while Kolbie Glionna finished with two singles and two RBIs.

At the plate, Hayes had a two-run home run, double and three RBIs.

Jake Earley added a double and two RBIs for Wells (1-1 overall, 1-1 MVAC), while John Page had a double, two runs scored and an RBI for the Indians.

Inigo Azcona had a triple for Keene (0-3 overall).

On Friday, Wells dropped a 2-0 decision at Crown Point in its season opener.

Robbie Macey and Joe Foote combined on a no-hitter for the Panthers.

Macey struck out five and walked two in two innings, while Foote struck out 11 over the final five innings.

Seth Weaver allowed three hits, struck out 13, walked one and hit a batter for Wells.

Judd DeBrobander had a two-run single for Crown Point.
