Cynthia Parker DePuy

Cynthia Parker DePuy, 80, of Johnstown, N.Y., died peacefully Wednesday night at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, N.Y. She was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Kingston, Pa., the daughter of Horace and Martha Illingworth Parker of Wilkes Barre, Pa. Cindy graduated from Wyoming Seminary and Wilson College. She played field hockey for seven years. She was formerly married to Hadley DePuy, past president of Fulton-Montgomery Community College. She taught school in Pooleville, N.Y., Lancaster, Pa., Clinton, N.Y., and Fonda-Fultonville Schools. She had many community interests including The Colonial Little Theater, the Burroughs Nature Study Club, the Aldine Society, the Students Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Domestic Violence Hotline, and the Ful. Co. Arts Council. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, the choir of the church, the Women of St. John's and NOAH. She leaves behind a brother, Robert (Alice) Parker of Muncy, PA., two sons, Guy DePuy of Remington, Va., and Craig S. (Mary) DePuy of Clemmons, N.C. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Luis and John. Friends are invited to attend a service of Resurrection to be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Johnstown, N.Y. Cremation took place at Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley, N.Y. Arrangements are by the Ehle Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her memory, to St. John's Episcopal Church or Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave. Gloversville, NY 12078.
