H.S. Track Roundup: Fonda-Fultonville sweeps Cobleskill-Richmondville

FONDA - The Fonda-Fultonville boys and girls track and field teams both posted wins over Cobleskill-Richmondville in a Colonial Council meet Wednesday.

The boys posted a 101-40 win over the Bulldogs, while the FFCS girls posted an 84-63 victory.

In the boys meet, the Braves won 11 of 17 events on their way to the victory.

Mike Sweet (110-meter hurdles, 400 hurdles), Dalton Hunter (400, long jump) and Matt Hoffman (800, 1,600) all won two individual events for FFCS.

Jimmy Westman (3,200) and Tristan Nellis (triple jump) also posted event wins for the Braves.

Fonda-Fultonville also won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

Don Thorington won the shot put and discus for Cobleskill-Richmondville, while Myles Selig won the 100 and 200 meters.

Gabe Gerhardt (pole vault) and Zach Haskin (high jump) also posted wins for the Bulldogs.

In the girls meet, Lindsay Therrien won the 100 hurdles, high jump and long jump to lead FFCS to the victory.

Jamie Kasza (1,500, 3,000) and Whitney Martuscello (shot put, discus) each won two events for the Lady Braves.

Rebekah Hentnik (pole vault), Alex Wisniewski (100 meters) and Kimberly Geniti (400 hurdles) also posted wins for FFCS, which won the 3,200 relay as well.

Morgan Loder won the 200 and 400 meters for Cobleskill-Richmondville, while Kim Brizzee (800) and Cheyenne Kissinger (triple jump) also posted wins for the Bulldogs.

Cobleskill-Richmondville also won the 400 and 1,600 relays.

Mayfield-Northville boys earn split, girls swept

MAYFIELD - The Mayfield-Northville boys earned a split with Duanesburg and Berne-Knox-Westerlo, while the girls lost to both in a Western Athletic Conference track and field meet at Mayfield Elementary School.

The boys topped Berne-Knox-Westerlo 75-62 before dropping a 69-67 decision to Duanesburg. The Mayfield-Northville girls lost 85-47 to Duanesburg and 77.5-62.5 to Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

Tom McClellan and Todd Briggs each won three individual events for Mayfield-Northville.

McClellan won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters, while Briggs won the 400 hurdles, long jump and triple jump.

Adetola Lawal won the high jump, 100 meters and 200 meters for Duanesburg. Colin Kenyon won the discus and shot put for the Eagles.

In the girls meet, Maddy Kenyon (200, shot put) Meghan Wilkes (long jump, 100) and Abby Schaible (400 hurdles, triple jump) all won two individual events for Duanesburg.

Fort Plain girls earn split, boys swept

MIDDLEBURGH - The Fort Plain girls defeated Mekeel Christian and lost to Middleburgh in a Western Athletic Conference track and field meet.

The Lady Hilltoppers defeated Mekeel Christian 80-58 and lost to Middleburgh 102-36.

The Fort Plain boys lost to Mekeel Christian 70-67 and Middleburgh 75-64.

The Middleburgh girls defeated Mekeel Christian 89-46, while the Mekeel Christian boys topped Middleburgh 72-66.

In the girls meet, Kaitlin Trumbull (100 hurdles) picked up the lone win for Fort Plain.

In the boys meet, Jordan Ahrens won the 1,600 and 3,200 for Fort Plain.

Zach Florian added a win in the shot put for the Hilltoppers.

Amsterdam sweeps Troy, Bishop Maginn

AMSTERDAM - The Amsterdam boys and girls track and field teams posted wins over Troy and Bishop Maginn at Amsterdam High School.

The boys topped Troy 122-50 and Bishop Maginn 133-22, while the Lady Rams posted a 100-79 win over Troy and a 116-34 win over Bishop Maginn.

In the boys meet, Izaiah Brown won the 200 meters, 400 meters and high jump for Amsterdam, which won 14 of 17 events.

Luis Laboy (long jump, 100), John Hardies (800, 1,600) and Connor Kilgallen (400 hurdles, pole vault) all won two events for the Rams, while Matt Raponi (3,200) and Omahri Sturdivant (triple jump) also posted wins.

Amsterdam also won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

In the girls meet, Megan Ottati (800), Cassandra Robataille (100 hurdles), Deborah Johnson (400 hurdles) and Madison Janetsky (triple jump) recorded wins for Amsterdam.

The Lady Rams also won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays.
