Henry E. Leitt, age 89, of Hagaman, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 12, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
Born on June 29, 1923, he was the son of the late Edward Leitt and Martha King Leitt.
Henry attended Fonda Schools. He then served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Henry spent many years employed with Garlock's Garage and then for Liberty Leather and Kasson & Keller. After his retirement, he spent several summers working for the NYS Thruway Authority.
He enjoyed traveling to Florida with his companion Helen for many winters and in his later years he enjoyed woodworking, building model planes and most especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Ethel, Marion and brother Richard.
He is survived by his companion of 25 years, Helen Nadler of Hagaman, his children Cheryl (Jerry) Callis of Tennessee, Janis Inglis of Mayfield, Barbara Flansburg (Charlie Mannell) of Johnstown, Edward (Brenda) Leitt of Gloversville and Carl (Wanda) Hayes of Alabama; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 6 p.m. at the First Free Methodist Church, Phelps Street, Gloversville, with fellowship immediately following.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
