Mrs. Barbara J. Battaglia, age 67, of Mayfield, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Albany Medical Center.
She was born January 31, 1946, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Richard and Myrtle Sweet Little. Barbara and her husband resided in Port Leyden, N.Y., from 1971 until 1984. She was employed by the Resource Center for Independent Living of Utica and Lexington Center.
Barbara was a member of the Johnstown Women of the Moose. She enjoyed visiting various casinos and was generous and loving to her family and friends. She touched the hearts of many people. She had a great love for all types of animals and was the "Director of Household Affairs at the Battaglia Estate."
She is survived by: her husband, Michael J. Battaglia, whom she married on April 28, 1963.
Also surviving are three children, Deborah L. Battaglia and her husband, Scott Gould of Mayfield, Michael J. Battaglia Jr. and his wife, Po Yan of Hong Kong, and Joseph L. Battaglia of Bleecker; four siblings, Eileen Pike of Meco, Gail Moore and husband, Ernie of Vail Mills, Richard Little Jr. and wife Brenda of Meco and Patricia Hillock and husband Paul of Meco. Her three grandchildren are: Aishia Mica Mabutas, Gregory A. Felter and Nicholas J. Felter. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday.
