H.S. Track Roundup: B-P splits Foothills Council opener

BROADALBIN - The Broadalbin-Perth boys and girls track and field teams earned a split in Tuesday's Foothills Council meet with Johnstown and Queensbury at Patriot Field.

The B-P boys topped Johnstown 110-62 and lost to Queensbury 105-73, while the girls defeated Johnstown 120-48 and lost to Queensbury 115-65. Queensbury completed the sweep by defeating the Johnstown boys 125-47, while the girls posted a 121-46 win over the Lady Bills.

In the boys meet, Queensbury won 12 of 17 events on its way to a sweep of Johnstown and Broadalbin-Perth.

Dave Slattery won the 100 meters and discus for the Spartans, while Troy Kelly won the 800 and 1,500 meters.

Zane Belden (3,200), Joe Hermey (110 hurdles), Ben Baker (400 hurdles), Zach Mapes (high jump) and Garrett Camp (pole vault) also posted wins for the Spartans.

Queensbury also won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

Henry Caughey won the 200 and 400 meters for Broadalbin-Perth while Michael Visco won the long and triple jump.

Pierre LaPort won the shot put for the Patriots and placed second in the discus.

Caughey also was second in the 100 meters, while Biagio Bucciferro was third in the 100 for B-P. Joe Kelly was third in the pole vault for the Patriots.

Darius Reyes was third in the 400 meters and 110 hurdles for the Patriots, while Greg Bogdan was second in the 1,600 meters. Reyes also was second in the long jump for B-P.

Zach Bulger was third in the shot put for B-P.

Alec Hornidge was second in the 800 meters for Johnstown, while Dusten Marlitt was third in the 200 meters for Johnstown. Hornidge also was third in the high jump for the Sir Bills.

Daeshan Buseck was third in the 1,600 meters for the Sir Bills, while Brandon Spaid was second in the pole vault.

In the girls meet, Queensbury won 14 of 17 events on its way to a sweep of Johnstown and B-P. Nikari Carota won three events for Queensbury, including the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and long jump.

Colleen Rice won the 100 and 200 meters for the Lady Spartans, while Megan Kellogg won the 800 and 1,500 meters. Olivia Paolano won the pole vault and triple jump for Queensbury

Calie Hubert (400) and Rachel Guinther (3,000) also posted wins for Queensbury, which also won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

Anna Smith won the shot put and discus for Broadalbin-Perth, while Chelsea LeBlanc won the high jump. Mackenzie Ottati was second in the high jump and 200 meters for B-P.

Coreena Monroe (400) was second

Angela Duross was second in the 100 meters for Johnstown, while Carissa O'Brien was second in the 100 hurdles for the Lady Bills. Meghan Bartlett was second in the shot put for Johnstown.

FFCS boys, girls top Voorheesville

VOORHEESVILLE - The Fonda-Fultonville boys and girls track and field teams opened their Colonial Council schedule with wins over Voorheesville.

The boys won all 17 events on their way to a 129-12 win over the Blackbirds, while the girls posted an 86-54 win.

In the boys meet, Tom Lyons won four events for the Braves. Lyons won the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and long jump for FFCS.

Michael Sweet won the 110 and 400 hurdles for the Braves, while Kyle Guiffre won the shot put and discus.

Jimmy Westman (3,200), Matt Hoffman (1,600), Joe Fox (high jump), Tom Dwyer (triple jump) and Jake Sammons (pole vault) also posted wins for FFCS.

Fonda-Fultonville also won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

In the girls meet, Lindsay Therrien won the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and long jump for the Lady Braves.

Kim Geniti won the 1,500, triple jump and 3,000 for FFCS, while Whitney Martuscello won the shot put and discus.

Jamie Kasza (800) and Rebekah Hentnik (pole vault) posted wins for the Lady Braves.

Fonda-Fultonville also won the 3,200 relay.

Nicole Brower (100), Flynn MacDonald (200), Allegra Fasulo (400) and Stephanie Keenan (high jump) posted wins for Voorheesville, which also won the 400 and 1,600 relays.
