Business assisted with Easter celebration

April 8, 2013
The Leader Herald

Many years ago, an annual Easter sunrise service was held up on High Rock Road overlooking the lake. Congregants bundled up for the cold, prepared themselves to stand as there were no chairs, and prayed for decent weather as this outdoor service came to pass each year. Decades ago, it was moved indoors.

On Easter Sunday morning this year, Sport Island Pub and its employees selflessly opened up their upper room for the ecumenical sunrise service of the First United Methodist Church and United Presbyterian Church of Northville. This is not the first time they have done so, but they provided us heat, chairs and a beautiful view of dawn breaking over our foothills as we worshiped on this holy day.

Our congregations are so grateful to Sport Island Pub's hospitality once again, and feel so blessed to live in an area in which one can always find a friend.

Our gratitude extends to your paper as well for providing a place in which to show our thanks.

congregation of the United Presbyterian Church of Northville
