Thomas J. Walsh, "Uncle Tom," 66, of Wauchula, Florida, and Wellesley Island, N.Y., passed away peacefully on February 20, 2013, at Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center in Sebring, Florida. He was born on October 31, 1946, in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Tom graduated from La Salle High School, Niagara Falls, N.Y., attended Cobleskill College, and served in the U.S. Navy for four years aboard the USS John F. Kennedy from 1965-1969. He was employed by the New York Power Authority as an electrician with IBEW local 2032 and later retired as an MRM Electrical Planner. He was united with the love of his life, Ellen J. Walsh, on June 14, 1974, in Fonda, N.Y. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two sons and their wives, Donald and Elaine of Little Falls, N.Y., Shane and Sarah of Hudson, N.H.; and one daughter, Caryn of Poland, N.Y., and four cherished grandchildren, Danielle, Ashlyn, Chloe and Liam. He is also survived by his father, Vincent Walsh and his wife, Janet of Largo, Fla.; two siblings and their spouses, Darlene and Bill McMaster of Houston, Texas and Kevin and Dana Walsh of Alma, Ga.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his pet, "RV." He was predeceased by his mother, Seena Hindle, and a daughter, Tori Jae'. Tom was an avid swimmer who set La Salle High School swim records that stood for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed hunting with his family, where many fond memories were made. He also enjoyed watching basketball, football and NASCAR racing but more recently watching his nephews race dirt track. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kathy Lee at Wauchula Hospital and his respiratory therapists, Porrie and Matthew. A private memorial service in New York will be held at a later date.
