JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton-Montgomery Community College softball team has been taking strides forward over the past couple of seasons. Now the Lady Raiders are looking to continue the trend.

The Lady Raiders battled their way to a 14-14 overall record last season, but came up short in their bid to qualify for regional postseason play.

Graduation took its toll on the team as seven players, including pitchers Aimee Reksc and Stephanie Page, catcher Maggie Mulligan, third baseman Kat Bant, shortstop Sam Manoogian, first baseman Sam Lysiak and left fielder Liz Perkins moved on.

However, third-year Lady Raiders coach Dan Towne has a positive outlook for the 2013 team.

"The team should continue to improve as the season rolls on," Towne said. "They are a good group that seems to work well with each other."

Emily Bradt and Amanda DeJesus return to the diamond for FMCC this season.
