Heroth earns NE-10 academic honors

EASTON, Mass. - Johnstown graduate Abigail Heroth, a sophomore on the Assumption College field hockey team, has been named as a Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference selection as voted by a panel of league sports information directors, athletic administrators and faculty athletic representatives.

Heroth, a midfielder, is a biology/pre-optometry major and boasts an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.9. She is a three-time Assumption College Student-Athlete Director's Citation recipient, earning the award in the Fall 2011, Spring 2012 and Fall 2012 semesters. This season she appeared in 17 games for the Hounds, including 12 starts.

Heroth posted one goal and two points, with that score coming on Sept. 4 against Southern Connecticut. She finished the season with 13 shots on goal and one defensive save.

Heroth also was recently named a 2012 Division II Scholar of Distinction by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
