Police: Facebook pics led to charges

March 18, 2013
The Leader Herald

GLOVERSVILLE -Photos posted on Facebook led to charges of petit larceny for three teenagers, city police said.

Damien Roe, 17, of 1344 County Highway 107, Samantha L. Horning, 18, and Dana C. Horning, 17, both of 190 Blanchard Road, were charged March 2 with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Police said they were arrested after an investigation into the theft of merchandise from Young's Variety Store, 37 S. Main St.

Police said during the investigation it was learned the trio selected several items from the store, concealed the items and left without paying.

As a result, police said, the store's owner posted the alleged suspects' photos on the store's Facebook page and asked for help identifying them. Police said the store's page was flooded with tips and the three were identified as suspects. Police said all three learned about the photos on Facebook and turned themselves in.

They were issued appearance tickets and released. They are scheduled to appear in City Court at a later date.
