Jay W. Knapp, 55, a resident of Lake Pleasant, passed away with his loving family at his side on Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Albany Medical Center.
He was born in Gloversville, N.Y. on November 27, 1957, the son of the late Jason Eugene and Beatrice Duhame Knapp. He was a graduate of Wells Central School, class of 1976.
He was employed for the town of Lake Pleasant. Jay was an avid Yankees and NASCAR fan and loved fishing and hunting. He was a hard worker, a mason and carpenter and especially loved watching his children's sporting events. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Sunrise Diner.
He was a member of the Lake Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, the Fish and Game Club and the Lions Club.
Survivors include: his wife, Beth Knapp of Lake Pleasant; two sons, Jason and Cory Knapp, both of Lake Pleasant; one brother, Martin Knapp of Colonie; one sister, Donna Knapp of Ballston Lake. He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Bruce Knapp.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the North Country Bible Fellowship Church, Elm Lake Road, Speculator. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Fish Mountain Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Pleasant Vol. Fire Department.
