BROOKHAVEN - The University at Albany baseball team notched a doubleheader sweep Monday, overcoming the New York Institute of Technology by scores of 3-2 and 2-0.
With the victories, the Great Danes improved to 3-7 overall on the season, while the Bears fell to 0-7.
Fonda-Fultonville graduate Josh Nethaway finished with a team-high four hits and two RBIs for Albany, while Mayfield graduate D.J. Hoagboon had two hits and scored two runs.
Albany will open America East Conference play with a three-game series at Hartford. Saturday's doubleheader begins at noon, followed by a single game on Sunday, also with a noon start.
