Mrs. Harriet M. Pierce Flansburg, age 82, of Johnstown, died peacefully on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
She was born November 13, 1930, in Blenhiem, NY, the daughter of the late A. Lincoln and Sophronia Liddle Pierce.
Harriet was employed for 22 years until her retirement at the former Johnstown Knitting Mill.
She was a member of the North Main St. United Methodist Church, Gloversville, where she served on the Worship Committee. She was also a member of the Nick Stoner, Ida McGinness, Johnstown 50 Plus and Fulton County Senior Citizens clubs. She served for 6 years on the Office for the Aging Advisory Committee and was an assistant at Miss Penny's Child Care.
Harriet enjoyed her flower gardens, house plants, sewing and knitting hats which she donated to her church mission team. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with her late husband and family.
She was married on June 17, 1951, to Raymond J. Flansburg who died December 8, 2005.
Survivors include: a son, Lincoln Flansburg (Beverly) of Caroga Lake; a daughter, Penny Lee Maybury-Mackey (Donald Mackey) of Gloversville; a sister, Mary Ellen Worthington of Howes Cave; a brother, Robert Pierce of Grover's Corners; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St.; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Main St. United Methodist Church, 316 N. Main St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
